A tune from her forthcoming album followed with Nick Gravenites’ “As Good As You’ve Been To This World,” after which Janis took the mood down a notch for an excellent rendition of the recent Bee Gees’ hit “To Love Somebody,” which would also be on her new album. Many music lovers, past and present, relate to. Each set consists of the 1969 studio album by the artist as well as each artist's entire. Her raw, bluesy voice and her uninhibited performances conveyed a soulful authenticity that still touches fans today. After the split, Janis formed a new backup group, The Kozmic Blues Band, comprised of session musicians like keyboardist Stephen Ryder and saxophonist Cornelius x2634 Snookyx2634 Flowers. The Woodstock Experience is a box consisting of a set of studio albums and live performances from the 1969 Woodstock Festival by the artists Santana, Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, and Johnny Winter. She is remembered as one of the most iconic female rock stars of all time. Ironically, Joplin went back to Texas in early 1966, right before a friend of hers, Chet Helms, became the manager of a new Rock group called Big Brother And. F or many rock fans, Janis Joplin is a world treasure. Janis worked the groove hard, attempting to establish a rapport with the vast audience. Were she alive, Janis Joplin would be 80 years old. Joplin played her last gig with Big Brother in December 1968 before going solo, and she released her album I Got Dem Ol Kozmic Blues Again Mama in September 1969 with Kozmic Blues Band. Janis and her Kozmic cronies opened with a cover of Eddie Floyd’s “Raise Your Hand,” a suitably up-tempo stomp that showcased the new sound full-bore. As a result, Janis spent most of the day backstage getting fairly ripped, and consequently was not in the best shape by the time she took the stage at 2:00 am on Sunday morning. This consisted of some of the best Bay Area session musicians, as well as former Big Brother guitarist Sam Andrew (who would leave the band within a few months, due to his drug use and influence on Janis). Influenced by soul giants such as Otis Redding, she wanted to move in a more R&B direction, deciding to add a horn section to her new newly-formed band. A superb recording of a one off performance.
